It was way back on the 1st August 1992 that Delta had her very first litter of five -  four boys & 1 girl. I was very lucky to have "pick" boy and that was Delaforce Alliance.  It was a young Graham that came up with the name "Vader" after Darth Vader fame - as he was very black in colour the name suited him very well!

Vader  was going to live his life with Maxie, my 12 month old Border Collie so I was allowed to take her over to see him when he was about 6 weeks old.  Well, when he saw her he got such a fright he ran back to Marilyn doing his puppy yelps!
I used to visit Marilyn & Ian regularly to see "My Boy" and his litter mates and I thank them very much for allowing me to do so!

When Vader turned 8 weeks he was allowed to come home with me. Well, it happened again - as soon as he saw Maxie he wouldn't come out of the carry crate.  Eventually when he realized she was not going to hurt him, out he came.  As they grew up together, he absolutely adored her and she him they were inseparable and went every where together except when Vader went to shows.

He was breed surveyed Class 1 and became a Champion, thank you Marilyn for entering him in the shows and to Ian for his handling!

Vader wasn't very keen on the showing, I guess it was because he was taken away from me - the one person he idolized!   He loved people but with dogs it was a different story - he got beaten up by another German Shepherd when he was a puppy.
He sired two litters with different females and his puppies were gorgeous - he was the absolute gentleman when "doing the deed"

He had a temperament to die for, so much so that he never bothered about sharing his backyard with a pigeon that had the hots for him!  He also allowed my son's dog in the backyard for a visit. I could also let him into the aviary and he would catch the mice and not worry about the birds!

Sadly  it's only through unforseen circumstances that I don't have a Delaforce German Shepherd today!

I know Marilyn & Ian put a lot of thought into their breeding program and don't breed for "demand".  All the dogs that have been presented for hip & elbow x-rays have passed!

R.I.P. Vader and Maxie after all this time I still miss you both very much.

Hi Marilyn & Ian

I just wanted to write and let you know what a wonderful dog you have bred in Delaforce Eddie Irvine aka “Locky”.

From the day we brought him home he has been nothing but a joy for our family. We found him very easy to train, as we don’t have an obedience club here in Ceduna I attempted the basics by myself and found him to be very responsive and an eager learner. Even as a puppy we didn’t have many teething problems, he toilet trained easily, always wanting to please us and trying so hard to do the right thing. He was spoilt rotten as a baby with lots of chew toys and I think this kept him sufficiently interested, as we only had one of his outside beds and the electric blanket cord on my bed chewed up!

He has always come with us where ever we have been able to take him and has become a well socialised and friendly individual. Of course he has retained that shepherd aloofness when it comes to strangers, but always quickly warms to people once he has checked them out and determined that they are OK. Ceduna is only a small town and he has become quite well known as he accompanies us in street parades, to festivals and on our daily walks around town.

He loves to play with other dogs, although it seems anything other than another German Shepherd tires of his play bowing, barking and the big paws on their backs pretty quickly. At one stage he had to share his house with three cats and as always he took this in his stride, never once attempting to have a go at any of them. Our youngest puss “Hamish” and he struck up quite a friendship and would sleep together on his bed and play chasey around the house, both giving as good as they got.

Locky is so faithful, loyal and trusting of his family. He is the type of dog that would give his all for any member of the family and always does his very best to please us. He has easily found his position in the hierarchy of both people and the various other animals we have from time to time, and never tries to push the envelope when it comes to his status.

Our dear old man has just started to slow up a little in old age and we treasure every day we have with him. He is and always will be my “heart dog” and I thank you so much for allowing us to share our lives with him; we have certainly grown and been enriched by having had him to teach us so much about ourselves.

Kind regards

Heidi Yates

We have been proud German Shepherd owners since 1973.  In September 2003 after the death of our elderly Shepherd we were very lucky to be able to adopt Delaforce Gangsters Moll (Bonnie) aged 21 months from Ian and Marilyn.  There is a photo of Bonnie in the Delaforce photo album.  Bonnie was a gorgeous long haired Shepherd with a fantastic nature.  Unfortunately Bonnie died in July 2007. She was much loved and is still missed.

Our daughter is now living and working in Katherine and wanted a dog of her own.  We contacted Ian and Marilyn in September 2007 and were thrilled to learn there was a litter on the way.  We had absolutely no hesitation in asking if Trudy’s name could be put on the waiting list for a puppy.

Ian and Marilyn’s dogs are carefully bred and they spare no effort or cost in caring for their dogs.  Trudy’s puppy, Delaforce Just Kaiserone (Kaiser), is extremely healthy with a lovely nature and we all feel it is a privilege and an honour to have such a well bred puppy as part of the family.

We have no hesitation in recommending Ian and Marilyn.  They are caring breeders with the highest standards.

“BAXTER”

21.2.99 – 5.9.07

It was a rainy day in April 1999 when I brought my boy home. He cried from Parafield Gardens all the way to Cheltenham. I thought to myself “What have I done!!”. That was the last time that thought ever entered my head.

Baxter was a mischievous puppy. Despite being the owner of every chew toy on the market, he managed to destroy his kennel, the watering system & numerous garden hoses. Luckily for me, this was short lived. He was easily trained, willing to learn and eager to please.

He grew to be a trusting, faithful & loyal boy. Socialised well with Family &Friends but protective in his own special way. He loved children and was particularly gentle with very young children.

Every time I came home, I was greeted with 3 short barks as I got out of my car. If I had been inside more than 10 minutes & he had not seen me I would get a subtle reminder! “Hey I’m waiting for my Snuggle”.

Baxter gave me 8-1/2 years of loyalty, happiness, protection & unconditional love in the only way a GSD owner would know.

Sadly Sept 5th 2007 “My Baxter Boy” passed away suddenly without warning. I miss him everyday & hope soon to fill the hole in my heart.

“MEMORIES ARE FOREVER”

I wish to thank Ian & Marilyn for allowing me the honour of owning & loving a Delaforce German Shepherd

Delaforce Boston

On the 9/2/08 Boston made his journey to the Ranbow Bridge;

forever watching over us aged 13 yrs and 8 mths

All about my dog Boston:
I'm Hannah and when I was little I used to dress Boston up in fairy clothes (he looked like a king) and I also used to fake sleep in his bed it was funny but I liked it.  He also sleped(sic) outside my window and have a pat with me.  And I've always loved him as much as my family.  He swam behind me at the beach and would alway greet me after school.

The End.  By Hannah Green.  (aged 7 yrs).

Delaforce Boston (DFK006) 4/6/94 - 9/2/03
"Boston"

Saturday 30/07/1994 Joanna and I became the proud owners of 8 wk old Delaforce Boston.  It was going to
be a new experience for me being a first time dog owner.  I had previously had only a few encounters with German Shepherd Dogs prior to Boston.  As a kid I remember being chased by German shepherd guard dogs and I met a friends German Shepherd that ahd a frightening bark but was just a big softy.  i knew I wanted to own a German shepherd, I just had to convince my wife that not all shepherds were as 'big and nasty' as what some people believed them to be.
I sought out some advice from a work mate Rex who was an experience Dog Catcher/Inspector.  He gave us some reassurance and piece of mind that a German shepherd sourced through the right channels would make an excellent pet.  Rex has some close friends Ian and Marilyn and they had just had a litter of pups.  he suggested we should go and have a look.  That's how we came to find Delaforce Kennels. Thanks Rex!
Boston came with us whenever and wherever we could take him.  with such a great temperament and friendly nature, we could take him anywhere with confidence; loud environments, busy crowded streets, any public place.  He joined us at every family event, trips to the beach or Sunday walk down the Bay, he could still turn heads even as a grey old boy.  He was very much part of our family.
boston was fantastic with kids of all ages,  He was around three of Jo's sister's kids since they were born and more recenlty welcomed our two girls into the family.  We did instill a lot of trust in Boston with the kids around and he never let us down; he would just get up and move away if he'd had enough.  Having been well socialised he also really enjoyed the company of other dogs and on a couple of occasion shared his home with them.
We had so much fun with Boston, doing all sorts of things.  My favourite was watching him track down and chase wild rabbits; it was awesome to see his nose at work.  He did the best "play dead", "roll over", gave great hugs, he was great at scooer and tracking me down while hiding in scrub.  Boston trained very well passing grade 5 at the GSDC of SA Inc in 1996.  Our eldest daughter Hannah loved to dress him up and hide in his kennel with him.
We always looked forward to catching up with Ian & Marilyn at the Royal Show to check out their latest dogs and they in return were always thrilled to hear how the "old fella" was going, Ian and Marilyn take great pride in their past and present dogs, they breed very carefully and don't "keep the best sell the rest".  If you have the time and energy I can higly recommend owning a German Shepherd and recommend Delaforce Kennels.  After metting Vinne (Delaforce Godfather AZ) I knew I would be gong back for another D.F.K. dog.  After nearly 14 years our loyal and most beautiful dog 'Boston' passed away peacefully at home in Feburary 2008.
Miss you old fella
